So, 'Dejavu' is this eerie little piece from 2015 that centers around Mirna, a nurse, who finds herself in this creepy old house, caring for Sofia, a disabled woman. The atmosphere is thick with tension, almost claustrophobic at times. You get the sense of dread from the very beginning, especially with Sofia's enigmatic husband lurking around, adding to the unease. The pacing has a slow burn quality, letting the paranoia build up. And the whole deja vu theme? It weaves in nicely with the psychological aspect. There's a fair amount of practical effects that feel raw and tangible, which makes the unsettling moments hit harder. Performances are solid, too, especially from the leads. It’s not your typical horror flick, which gives it a distinctive edge.
