Der andere Junge is one of those films that really immerses you in its bleak atmosphere. The pacing feels deliberate, almost methodical, which gives you time to soak in the characters' neglect and isolation. The Morell family is so wrapped up in their lives, they overlook their son's struggles. The performances, especially the kid playing Robert, are raw and authentic. You really feel his loneliness. And then there’s that chilling moment when Paul pulls a gun—just jarring. It’s a heavy watch, delving into bullying and the consequences of indifference, but there's a certain realism in its storytelling that makes it stick with you long after. Not the easiest film to digest, but striking in its own right.
