Dinogeist is one of those oddball gems that blends action, comedy, and horror in a uniquely chaotic way. The premise is wild: a greedy developer disturbs sacred land, and suddenly, ghostly dinosaurs start wreaking havoc on the neighborhood. The pacing is all over the place, which somehow adds to its charm, as you never quite know what's coming next. The practical effects are a mixed bag, but they have this raw, DIY feel that makes the ghostly dinosaurs all the more unsettling. The performances oscillate between over-the-top and earnest, which lends itself to the film's peculiar atmosphere. It's distinctive, for sure, capturing a certain 90s vibe that you don't find often in cinema today.
Dinogeist has a bit of a cult following, although its formats are somewhat limited. It seems to have only seen a handful of releases on VHS and DVD, making it a bit tricky to track down, especially in good condition. The scarcity adds to the collector interest, as fans appreciate its quirky charm and how it stands out in the horror/comedy genre. If you can find it, it's definitely one for the shelf.
