Distant Cousins is an interesting dive into familial tension wrapped in a thriller format. The atmosphere is thick with unease, largely stemming from Kate’s instinctual distrust of her husband’s long-lost cousin, Harry. The pacing has a slow build, really letting the tension simmer as Harry and his fiancée Connie settle in. There's a palpable sense of paranoia that grows as Kate observes odd behaviors, pushing the narrative into darker territories. While the performances are solid, particularly from the lead, it’s the practical effects that stand out, adding a raw edge to the suspenseful moments. It’s not your conventional thriller, more of a psychological exploration of trust and the hidden shadows within family ties.
Unique blend of family drama and thriller elements.Strong themes of distrust and psychological tension.Practical effects add to the film's gritty realism.
