Doktor Glas is a fascinating piece, really. Directed by Allan Edwall, it's a one-man show that brings to life the inner turmoil of its titular character, based on Hjalmar Söderberg's novel. The atmosphere is heavy, almost claustrophobic, as the pacing moves steadily, allowing you to sink into Glas's moral dilemmas and existential angst. The performance is gripping, capturing his turmoil and the weight of his decisions with nuance. I found the practical effects minimal, but they serve the story well, keeping the focus on the character's psychological landscape. Themes of ethics, desire, and morality weave through the narrative, creating a rich tapestry of conflict that’s both thought-provoking and deeply engaging.
