So, 'Don't Lose Heart' is this intriguing little gem from 2013, focusing on Toyo Shibata, a Japanese poet who took to writing at the age most people are slowing down. The atmosphere is quite reflective, almost meditative, and the pacing is gentle, allowing you to really soak in her journey. The film does a great job of showing the struggles and triumphs of late blooming creativity. While we don’t know much about the director, the performances are heartfelt, capturing that essence of vulnerability and resilience. It's interesting to see how poetry can emerge from such late stages in life, giving a unique perspective on aging and art. Definitely one of those films that sticks with you in a subtle way.
