So, 'Double or Nothing' is this intriguing animated flick that dives into the dark underbelly of Tokyo's 80s, capturing the essence of greed. The story revolves around Akio Kashiwagi, a property shark with a flair for illegal gambling, and the animation really brings out the neon-lit atmosphere of that era. There’s this palpable tension in the pacing, especially as the American pursues him—it's almost like a cat-and-mouse game, but with a lot more style. The themes of ambition and moral ambiguity are woven throughout, and I must say, the character design for Akio is striking, almost larger than life. It really gives you a feel for the excess and danger of that time. Definitely a unique piece, caught my attention for sure.
