Duel at Sundown is a solid example of 60s Westerns, blending classic themes of brotherhood and responsibility. The plot revolves around Don McGow who leaves his younger brother in charge during a cattle drive, only to have the herd go missing. What I find interesting is how it captures that tension between duty and guilt. The pacing has that typical slow burn, but it builds up to some nice confrontations. The practical effects during the cattle drive scenes are quite convincing for the era. Leopold Lahola's direction gives it a gritty feel, and the performances are straightforward yet effective. Not the flashiest Western by any means, but there's a certain charm in its earnestness that stands out.
Cattle drive atmosphere is well captured.Good exploration of sibling dynamics.Features practical effects that hold up decently.
