Duel of the Masters is one of those quirky gems from the early '80s, blending classic kung fu antics with a bit of supernatural flair. The storyline has Ah-fei and Dragon, two students of two kung-fu masters, taking on what they think are ghosts in a haunted house. But, spoiler alert, it's just a couple of con men pulling a fast one. The pacing is brisk, with plenty of action sequences, but there's also a lightheartedness that keeps it from getting too serious. The practical effects, while not cutting-edge, have that charming DIY feel. The performances are spirited, particularly from the leads, who bring a youthful energy to the whole affair. It’s a unique take on the ghost story, really more about the fun of the chase than genuine scares.
