'Dying to Learn' is interesting, for sure. It takes us into the mundane yet intense world of high school, specifically an 11th grade math class, where typical teenage drama is layered with a surprising twist. The film captures that palpable tension found in classrooms, where relationships can shift in an instant. After a triggering event, the atmosphere becomes stifling, mirroring the escalating feud among the students. The pacing feels deliberate, allowing the viewer to almost feel the confines of the classroom, both physically and emotionally. While the performances are grounded, it’s the raw representation of youth and conflict that stands out. Certainly not a flashy film, but there's something really compelling about its simplicity and authenticity.
