Echelon Conspiracy plays out like a techno-thriller with a dash of paranoia. It’s interesting how the film uses the motif of technology as both a tool and a weapon. There’s a palpable tension as the protagonist, an engineer, gets tangled in a web of international intrigue, driven by cryptic messages. The pacing is a bit uneven, with some moments dragging, but it picks up nicely in the chase sequences. You can feel the global scale of the story, and the practical effects are solid for a film of its budget. It’s not groundbreaking, but there's something about the way it tackles themes of surveillance and control that feels relevant, even today. The performances carry a weight that adds to the film's atmosphere, even if the script stumbles at times.
