Eel Girl is this weird blend of horror and sci-fi that really plays with your mind. The atmosphere is thick, almost suffocating at times, thanks to the sterile military lab setting which contrasts sharply with the creature's raw, unnatural allure. The pacing has a nice tension, drawing you in slowly, like a siren's call, and the filmmaker's choice of practical effects gives the creature a tangible presence that CGI just can't replicate. The performances are pretty compelling, especially from the scientist who's caught in this twisted obsession. It raises questions about humanity and monstrosity, all while keeping you on edge. Not your typical creature feature, for sure.
