Energy Island is kind of a haunting exploration, you know? It really takes you deep into the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, which is in the midst of a decommissioning. The visuals are striking – you see these contaminated ruins, and then there’s this play of fire, light, and shadow that creates a really eerie atmosphere. The pacing feels almost meditative, allowing the viewer to linger on the remnants of what was once a powerhouse. It touches on themes of destruction and the legacy of Cold War energy, which is pretty relevant. There’s a rawness to the whole thing, almost like you can feel the weight of history in every frame. It's definitely a unique piece in the documentary realm.
