Escape the Night is one of those indie horror flicks that doesn't shy away from the grittiness of a zombie apocalypse. Drakulic really captures that raw survival instinct through a mother's frantic journey to save her son. The pacing is tight, keeps you on edge without dragging its feet. There's a certain bleak atmosphere throughout, enhanced by some solid practical effects that manage to elevate a few typical zombie tropes. Performances are earnest, especially the lead, who really embodies the desperation of a parent. It's not groundbreaking, but it has a small, distinct charm that can resonate if you're in the right mood for it.
