So, 'Esther' is an interesting little comedy that plays with the awkwardness of teenage life in a pretty unique way. The pacing is a bit uneven, especially in the first act, but it really captures that youthful bravado when Esther finally gets her braces off. The whole dynamic with her Hebrew tutor is both cringey and hilarious, and I think that’s what gives the film its distinct flavor. The performances are surprisingly strong for such a niche project, especially the lead, who manages to balance innocence with a bit of boldness. There’s not a lot of over-the-top effects, but the practical jokes land well and help to create a lighthearted atmosphere throughout.
