Everything Outside is this quiet little gem that really captures the awkwardness of two very different lives colliding. Louise, the Quebec painter, has this heavy sense of isolation, and you can feel her frustration when Ahmed, the Lebanese-Canadian actor, invades her space. It’s all about tension, really, and the way it builds is fascinating. The pacing is deliberate, almost meditative at times, which lets you soak in the atmospheric setting of the lake house. Performance-wise, both actors deliver raw, authentic portrayals that draw you into their internal struggles. The themes of solitude and connection linger long after the credits roll, making it one of those films that sticks in your mind for a while.
