Evolution's Child is one of those odd 90s TV movies that flirts with some pretty heavy themes without taking itself too seriously. The premise, revolving around Dr. James Mydell and his mishaps with ancient genetic material, definitely gives it a unique twist. You get this strange blend of science fiction and light-heartedness, especially when he’s trying to help his friends, the Cordells, with their fertility issues. The practical effects used for the Bronze Age elements are surprisingly decent for a TV movie, adding a distinct texture to the narrative. The pacing can feel a bit uneven, but it really leans into its quirks, making it memorable. It’s not your typical sci-fi fare, which is part of its charm, I suppose.
