Extended Time is quite the gem from the mid-80s, blending comedy and drama in a way that feels refreshingly human. It revolves around Karel Svozil, this aging art history professor, navigating love and the heaviness of life, all while dealing with a cancer diagnosis that really shakes things up. The performances are a mixed bag, but there's a genuine warmth in how the characters interact. The pacing feels leisurely, letting those quieter moments breathe, which adds a lot to the atmosphere. I find the film's treatment of mortality and the mundane aspects of life really distinctive, wrapped in a subtle humor that often catches you off guard. It’s a portrait of life's fragility with a light touch, rather than wallowing in despair.
