False Trail is a gritty crime thriller that really immerses you in a rural Swedish setting. Kjell Sundvall does an interesting job at weaving the tensions between Erik Backstrom and the local police, especially Torsten—talk about a clash of egos! The film's pacing is deliberate, building suspense as Erik digs deeper into a labyrinth of local secrets and family ties. The atmosphere is thick with distrust, and the cinematography captures the cold, isolated beauty of the village. Performances feel raw and authentic, especially from the leads. There’s a haunting quality to the narrative, exploring themes of loyalty and betrayal that stick with you, almost like a chill in the air long after you’ve finished watching.
