Family Secrets is one of those films that digs into the messy corners of relationships, you know? Kenji Shimamura is a young man struggling with intimacy because of his parents' own dysfunctional love story, which really sets a heavy tone. The pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, but it sort of mirrors Kenji's own emotional journey, which is clever. The comedy comes in unexpected bursts, lightening the drama without overshadowing it. It’s got this raw, awkward realism that makes you feel for Kenji and Noriko. The performances are solid, too, capturing that blend of humor and heartache. Plus, there’s some interesting psychological exploration here, making it more than just another rom-com. Definitely a film that leaves a bit of a mark.
