So, here we have 'Fantomas vs. Scotland Yard,' the final chapter in the trilogy directed by André Hunebelle. It’s got this playful yet sinister tone that really encapsulates the essence of Fantômas. The pacing is brisk, keeping you on your toes as our anti-hero imposes a head tax on the wealthy, which is both absurd and oddly thought-provoking. The practical effects, especially the inventive gadgets and disguises, are charmingly dated but add to the film's unique atmosphere. The performances are over-the-top in that delightful French way, with Jean Marais bringing a whimsical flair to the character. There’s a certain breeziness to the whole affair, making it a fun watch while still touching on themes of class struggle. Definitely stands out in the series.
