Finding Me, directed by Roger S. Omeus Jr., is this interesting blend of comedy, drama, and romance. It dives into the life of Faybien Allan, who on the surface looks like he’s got it all figured out in the vibrant nightlife of NYC. But the film does a great job, I think, of peeling back those layers to reveal the struggle with his father's homophobia, which casts a long shadow over his charming façade. The pacing ebbs and flows nicely, balancing light-hearted moments with deeper emotional beats. The performances are quite engaging, drawing you into Faybien's world and the tangled web of relationships he navigates. It's distinctive for its authentic portrayal of personal struggles set against a glamorous backdrop, a bit of grit alongside that glitz.
Interesting take on identity and self-acceptance.Gritty realism amidst a stylish setting.Strong character development throughout.
