Firehouse Dog is a quirky mix of comedy and family themes, wrapped around the misadventures of a pampered pooch turned firehouse mascot. The film offers a nice contrast between Rexxx's Hollywood glitz and the gritty charm of the dilapidated fire station. Todd Holland directs with a light touch, balancing humor with some surprisingly touching moments. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but that adds to its charm—you get these playful dog antics interspersed with genuine kid-dog bonding. The practical effects with Rexxx in action are well done, and the supporting cast, especially the kid, injects a lot of heart. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a fun little piece of family entertainment that has its own kind of warmth.
