Firestorm, from '98, is a solid entry in the action-adventure genre, blending tension with a unique premise. You've got Jesse Graves, a firefighter, who finds himself in the thick of a raging forest fire, which is no accident. The pacing is pretty relentless, really keeps you engaged. The whole setup of the escaped convict and his crew of impostor firefighters adds a twist, giving it a kind of heist flavor. The practical effects in the fire scenes are quite impressive for the time, and there’s a certain grit to the performances that make it feel more grounded. It’s interesting how the film explores themes of heroism and survival in such a chaotic situation. Not a masterpiece, but certainly distinct.
