FleshEater: Revenge of the Living Dead is one of those films that just encapsulates the raw, unrefined charm of late 80s horror. Directed by S. William Hinzman, who has a knack for blending the absurd with the macabre, this flick dives into the typical college antics before it all spirals into chaos. The atmosphere is laced with a sense of dread, especially as the group’s revelry is shattered by the emergence of the ancient zombie. Practical effects are plentiful, and though they might not hold up to today’s standards, there's a certain authenticity that makes the gore feel visceral. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it adds to the overall disorienting experience. Performances range from earnest to delightfully campy, which just adds to its distinct flavor in the horror landscape.
