This 2015 documentary on the Florida black bear is pretty unique, I mean, it’s a school project, so it has that raw, unrefined feel. The pacing is a bit uneven, which adds to its charm and authenticity — you can tell the filmmakers are still learning their craft. They dive into themes of wildlife conservation and the delicate balance of ecosystems, which is cool. The practical effects are just the camera work, really, capturing the bears in their natural habitat, but it’s surprisingly effective. You get a genuine sense of curiosity from the young filmmakers, and their enthusiasm is palpable. It’s definitely not your typical polished documentary but that’s what makes it interesting.
