FM89.3MHz is this odd mix of comedy and drama that feels both lighthearted and a bit introspective. The premise is pretty unique—Junji, a yakuza just out of prison, gets shoved into the role of a radio host. It’s interesting watching him navigate this world, especially when he’s clearly out of his depth in front of the mic. The performances are solid; you really get a sense of his reluctance and the quirky vibe of the radio station, especially with that peppy girl he meets. There’s a nice pacing to it, balancing the laughs with more serious undertones about identity and expectations. It’s not flashy, but there’s something charming about how it unfolds, making it distinctive in its own right.
