For Love (1982) is quite the fascinating piece, really. It explores the lives of a group of artisans making handmade goods, but it dives deeper into the chaos of their production. There's a young businessman who steps in, trying to impose some order – dividing the artisans into work groups and reducing their downtime. It’s interesting how it paints the tension between ambition and the artistic spirit. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, which oddly adds to its charm. The performances carry a raw authenticity, especially in how they handle the characters’ struggles with change. And there’s something to be said for the practical effects used to showcase their craftsmanship, which lends a tactile reality to the film’s atmosphere.
