So, Fukumimi is this quirky blend of comedy, drama, and fantasy that really captures the vibe of early 2000s Japanese cinema. Takashi, our lead played by Kudo Kankuro, is this hapless freelancer who gets swept up in a sort-of whimsical quest for love. The pacing is a bit erratic at times, but that just adds to its charm. The scenes in the 'Time Machine' restaurant are especially memorable, with practical effects that give a unique touch. Shiho Takano as Satoru embodies that elusive quality of longing and connection. There's this dreamlike quality to the narrative that makes you ponder about fate and relationships. Not your typical rom-com, for sure, but it has its own kind of magic that lingers after it’s over.
