Fûzoku zukan: Yare nai otoko-tachi is quite an interesting piece, set during the last night of the Heisei era. The film focuses on Rokuo, a rather laid-back guy living in a brothel dormitory, who has an amusing encounter with his senior, Yoshio. Their dialogue is silly and feels almost improvised at times, which gives it a relaxed atmosphere. The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing the comedic moments to breathe, and it almost feels like a slice-of-life within the adult world. The performances are charmingly awkward, adding to the film's unique tone. Being a sequel, it taps into familiar themes from its predecessor but carves its own niche with a lighter touch and a playful spirit.
