Games of Love and Chance is an interesting blend of youthful angst and classic literature. Kechiche captures the rawness of teenage emotions against the backdrop of a Parisian housing project, which adds an authentic grit. The pacing is intentionally languid, allowing the characters’ internal struggles to unfold organically. Krimo's transformation from reluctance to eagerness in the rehearsal mirrors a lot of coming-of-age themes, and Lydia's magnetic presence is something to appreciate. The performances feel very natural, almost like a documentary, which gives it a charm that's hard to pin down. There’s a certain spontaneity in their interactions that makes it stand out, a bit messy but real—definitely not your typical romance.
