Ghosts of Mars is a wild blend of sci-fi and horror, true to Carpenter's style. Set in a dystopian 2176, the atmosphere is gritty and claustrophobic, enhanced by practical effects that give it a tangible feel. The Martian landscape is both desolate and haunting, almost a character in itself. The pacing has a nice build-up, shifting from the simple premise of a police unit to a fight for survival against Martian spirits. Natasha Henstridge and Ice Cube bring a gritty edge to their roles, and you can see Carpenter's love for blending action with supernatural elements. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it stands out with that unmistakable Carpenter vibe, for better or worse.
