Girl, Interrupted is a raw look at mental health in the late '60s. You really feel the disorientation through the cinematography and the pacing. Winona Ryder is captivating as Susanna, navigating that blurred line between sanity and insanity. The supporting cast, with Angelina Jolie as Lisa, really brings a chaotic energy that contrasts with the sterile hospital environment. It's gritty and real, not just a pretty portrayal of mental illness. The film's able to weave in social commentary about expectations of women and the pressures they face, which is still relevant today. The practical effects and set designs create this authentic backdrop, almost like you can feel the weight of the world pressing down on these characters. Worth a revisit for sure.
