Gisaku is one of those oddities that you stumble upon and can’t quite shake off. It blends action, adventure, and animation in a way that’s both refreshing and a bit chaotic. The story of Yohei, a young samurai lost in time between 17th century Japan and modern Spain, is loosely tied to the infamous Hasekura. There’s a certain charm in its pacing—sometimes it rushes through the plot, other times it lets moments breathe, especially during Yohei's encounters with contemporary life. The animation has its quirks, with a blend of practical effects that give it a unique texture. Watching the character adapt, grapple with his past, and face the current-day challenges brings a distinct flavor that’s hard to place but definitely memorable.
