So, 'God Exists, Her Name Is Petrunya' is pretty compelling. It’s set in this small Macedonian town, and every January, there's this unique ritual where a priest tosses a wooden cross into a river. Usually, it’s just men diving for it, but then we have Petrunya, who just jumps in out of nowhere. The pacing feels deliberate, really allowing the tension to build as she emerges with the cross. It tackles themes of gender roles and societal expectations, all while maintaining an almost oppressive atmosphere. The performances, particularly by the lead, feel natural and raw – it’s refreshing. And visually, it’s got this gritty realism that pulls you into the town's struggles. Definitely noteworthy for collectors interested in international cinema.
