So, Godzilla VS Anguirus - Part 1 is an interesting entry in the kaiju genre. It kicks off with Scott, a scientist, who’s basically thrown into the chaos of this newly awakened monster wreaking havoc in Japan. The pacing feels a bit erratic at times, but hey, it captures that frantic energy of a monster movie. The practical effects are where this film shines, especially during the monster battles. You get that gritty, tangible feel, unlike some of the over-CGI stuff we see lately. The performances are decent, not groundbreaking, but they manage to convey the urgency of the situation. It’s more about the spectacle than character development, but there’s something to be said for that classic kaiju vibe.
