So, 'Grandma' is a real piece of character-driven storytelling. Paul Weitz takes a close, sometimes uncomfortable look at family dynamics through a day spent with Elle and Sage. The pacing feels natural—it's not rushed, and you really feel the weight of their emotional exchanges. It's pretty raw, emotionally speaking; Elle's cynicism clashes with Sage's youthful uncertainty, creating some poignant moments. The dialogue is snappy, and you get a real sense of Elle's past shaping her present. The performances are quite strong, especially Lily Tomlin as Elle—she just embodies that misanthropic charm. Plus, the low-key aesthetic and practical effects keep the focus on the characters rather than flashy visuals, which is refreshing.
