Gussy is this intriguing horror flick that leans heavily into nostalgia and the haunting nature of childhood fears. It follows Miles and Rocky, who, even after two decades, are still obsessed with that monster they thought they spotted in their youth. The film does a nice job of building an eerie atmosphere; you can feel the tension simmering just beneath the surface. The pacing is deliberate, allowing those moments of dread to stretch out, which I think really heightens the impact. Practical effects are used effectively—there’s something unsettling about seeing physical representations of horror rather than relying on CGI. The performances feel genuine, particularly as the characters wrestle with their past and the fear that’s lingered on. It’s not your typical creature feature.
