Guyver: Dark Hero is one of those under-the-radar sequels that really carves its own niche. Directed by Steve Wang, who has a knack for blending practical effects with over-the-top action, the film has a raw energy that fans of 90s sci-fi will appreciate. The pacing feels just right; it doesn't linger too long, hitting those action beats with urgency. The performances, especially from David Hayter as Sean Barker, add a gritty charm. The monster designs are a highlight too, with practical effects that give it that tactile feel you don’t see much anymore. It’s distinct in how it embraces the darker aspects of its narrative while still holding onto that comic book spirit. Definitely an interesting entry in the genre.
