Directed by Mike Newell, this fourth entry in the Harry Potter series leans into darker themes while still keeping that whimsical touch. The atmosphere is thicker, especially with the Triwizard Tournament's tense challenges—those dragons and the underwater tasks are pretty intense compared to earlier films. The pacing shifts quite a bit too, with an emphasis on character development and the looming threat of Voldemort. The performances, especially from the trio—Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint—are noticeably more mature. The practical effects are a highlight, like the dragon design, which feels more tangible than CGI-heavy moments in other entries. It feels like a turning point in the series, blending adventure and a touch of horror quite effectively.
Released November 18, 2005, in the U.S.Runtime: 157 minutes, PG-13 rating.Filmed at various locations, including Scotland and Ireland.Features a score by Patrick Doyle, distinct from previous films.
