Hell of SE is quite the intriguing piece. It dives deep into the tumultuous emotions of high school life, showcasing Amano's unrequited love for Hayasaka, who, interestingly enough, is drawn to a rather unique obsession. The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing viewers to soak in the complexity of each character's feelings, especially with the tension between Amano and her friend Yoshiyuki. The performances have a raw honesty that feels refreshing, and the themes of obsession and friendship clash beautifully. There’s a distinct atmosphere, with a mix of melancholy and surrealism, especially with Hayasaka's bizarre antics involving used napkins. It's definitely not your standard youth drama, and that alone makes it stand out in a sea of similar narratives.
