Hills End is one of those obscure TV movies that just kind of sticks with you. Set against the backdrop of a relentless storm, it creates this claustrophobic tension as seven kids and their teacher find themselves trapped in a cave. The performances are a mixed bag, but that adds to the film's raw charm. You really get a sense of the children’s fears and dynamics, and the atmosphere is palpably thick with suspense. The practical effects, while limited, serve their purpose well, enhancing the overall sense of danger. Pacing's a bit uneven, but it gives the characters time to breathe and develop. It's not polished, but there’s a gritty authenticity to it that feels very much of its time.
