Hits is one of those oddball films that manages to blend a lighthearted comedy with some pretty serious undertones. You've got this teen who's just desperate to be on a talent show, and her father's unexpected viral fame adds a nice layer of chaos to the narrative. The pacing feels a bit off at times, but it kind of works with the offbeat vibe. It has this quirky atmosphere, and the performances are sincere, especially from the dad character, who’s hilariously frustrated with the system. The whole premise of a family's struggle for recognition in a world obsessed with fame is surprisingly relatable. It’s a bit messy, but that’s part of its charm, I guess.
