Hollow Man, directed by Paul Verhoeven, is a curious blend of science fiction and thriller that dives into the darker implications of invisibility. Kevin Bacon's performance as Sebastian Caine is both charismatic and unsettling, capturing that descent into madness quite well. The film's tone wavers between high-stakes tension and somewhat absurd moments, which gives it an unsettling flavor. The practical effects, especially during the transformation sequences, are impressive for the time and really highlight the physicality of the concept. The pacing does hit some bumps, but it keeps you on edge as Caine spirals out of control. It's a solid entry in the genre, with some morally ambiguous themes that linger long after the credits roll.
