Holy Rollers is this offbeat comedy that straddles the line between irreverence and sincerity. Directed by Jake Goddard, it's kind of a buddy film, but with a grumpy priest who's seen it all and his eager young apprentice. They roll around in this old, beat-up van, which adds to the whole scrappy vibe. The pacing has this nice rhythm as things unfold, especially during the exorcism scene where the wife's vanity clashes hilariously with the serious tone of the task at hand. The performances really shine, especially the dynamic between the leads, playing up the absurdity of their situation. The practical effects used during the more supernatural elements keep it grounded, making it feel authentic, which is a real treat.
Quirky take on the exorcism trope.Strong performances with great chemistry.Interesting use of practical effects.
