Home Sweet Home Alone, directed by Dan Mazer, tries to capture that classic holiday mischief vibe, you know? It’s got this light-hearted tone that feels like a nod to the original but lacks some of that sharp edge. The pacing can be a bit uneven, especially when it leans heavily into slapstick; you get some fun moments from the kid, Max Mercer, who's got a decent charm. The practical effects are there, though not as clever as you'd hope, and the heist antics of the couple trying to reclaim their heirloom add a quirky twist. Overall, it has its whimsical moments, but it doesn’t quite hit the same nostalgic highs you'd expect from a holiday flick.
