Homecoming (2023) is one of those films that lingers with you long after the credits roll. The way it handles memory and trauma is pretty unique, capturing Jenny’s internal struggle as she revisits her past within the confines of her childhood home. It’s like you can feel the weight of her experiences in every creak of the floorboards. The pacing has this almost hypnotic quality, occasionally slowing down to let the atmosphere sink in, which can be a bit disorienting but also rewarding. And while the director is still a bit of a mystery, the performances really anchor the film, particularly in how they convey vulnerability without resorting to melodrama. The practical effects, though sparse, add to the haunting quality of her memories manifesting. Definitely a film that invites discussion.
