Housesitting is an interesting entry in the horror genre, though it doesn't quite fit the mold of conventional scares. The whole thing is shot through a head-mounted camera, which gives it this raw, almost claustrophobic feel that really pulls you in. The pacing is deliberately slow at first, allowing that eerie knocking sound to build tension, and you can almost feel the protagonist's unease seep into your own skin. The practical effects are minimal, but they serve the atmosphere well, enhancing the sense of dread rather than relying on cheap jump scares. The performances feel genuine, especially as the man's grip on reality starts to unravel. There's something about this film that makes it feel like an exploration of isolation and paranoia, which resonates long after the credits roll.
