Hreidar the Stupid is this quirky little piece of puppet animation that really sticks with you. It’s got that unique charm that only comes from practical effects and the old-school animation style. The pacing is a bit off-kilter, but that oddly fits the story of Hreidar, this big, ugly, slowwitted guy from Iceland on a quest in Norway. The humor is dry, kind of understated, and it captures that saga feel nicely. The way they bring the characters to life is impressive for a 1996 production. You can’t help but appreciate the craft behind it, even if it doesn’t have the polish of modern animations. It’s definitely got its own vibe that sets it apart from mainstream stuff.
