Hubcap (1997) is kind of a curious entry in the horror genre. It meshes date movie vibes with some pretty dark themes—voyeurism and fantasy take center stage, while the brutality lingers just beneath the surface. The pacing feels deliberate, almost hypnotic at times, which gives it an unsettling atmosphere. Practical effects are used effectively, pushing that boundary between reality and nightmare. You can sense a rawness in the performances that really enhances the film's intensity. It's one of those films that invites you to look closer, to dig into its layers. Definitely not a straightforward horror flick, but that’s what makes it stand out, I think.
